An opt-in offer is where you offer your target audience something of value for free in exchange for their contact information, typically their name and email address. The goal is to continually grow and nurture your list in order to convert subscribers into customers or client.

The item(s) used as the freebie or incentive is frequently called a lead magnet. This is because, like magnets, they attract or draw your chosen audience or leads to your offer, which often involves a mailing list opt-in.

Once you've captured the leads to a list inside an email autoresponder (e.g. Aweber, ConstantContact, MailChimp, Get Response, etc.), you can then send out specific topic information designed to inform, educate, engage, and inspire them to take suggested actions. However, you will first need to create an opt-in offer that includes a lead magnet or incentive.

Lead Magnet Opt-in Incentives

When it comes to choosing an incentive for your offer, you have a wide range of options. Below are types of lead magnets and strategies that are used widely and successfully to provide target audiences with solutions, info, and items they want and need most.

Your lead magnets pull double duty for you. They serve as samples and examples of your products, services, values, ethics, and expertise. They also enable you to reach more of the people who want and need the products and services you provide.

If you are serious about getting more subscribers/clients, your lead magnets should be top-notch and something that your audience needs.

Ideally, you want to create your lead magnet only once. However, under certain circumstances, you may want to make a slightly edited version for a different segment of your target market or send out an update if information has changed.
